On April 18, Pokémon TCG Pocket published a post showing a simple infographic regarding ranked changes once the season ends. According to the post, most ranks will suffer a demotion of two ranks.
Seasonal ranked changes are pretty common in competitive games. Overwatch, League of Legends, and Counter-Strike 2 all implement some sort of ranked changes after the end of a season. Pokémon TCG Pocket is following suit with its version.
Players under the rank of Great Ball 1 will see no rank changes after the season ends, but those at Great Ball 2 will suffer from one. Perhaps, the biggest drop would be Top Players in the Master Ball rank will go straight down to Ultra Ball 4. While it is still technically two ranks down, the grind to get to the top is much longer than any other rank.
Some players in the Twitter replies are also asking for rank protection. This means that players who have reached Ultra Ball 1 and Master Ball ranks cannot be demoted back to the rank bracket. Pokémon TCG Pocket has not commented on these kinds of requests.
Pokémon TCG Pocket’s ranked mode was introduced on March 28, 2025, and has five rank brackets: Beginner, Pokéball, Great Ball, Ultra Ball, and Master Ball Rank. In each of these ranks, there are four tiers, except for the Master Ball Rank, which has the Top Master Ball, where the best players of the game reside. The current ranked season will end on April 26.
